Claudia Maria
Ferreira da Costa

Most people never get the chance to rewrite their future with an activity mostly associated with youth, Claudia Maria has had the amazing opportunity to do just that.

Claudia Maria had a relationship with Next Model Management as a “mother agent”. But, once she fully embraced her silvering hair, the Miami agency offered to represent her. She remembers doing her first job after that point, and thinking how wild that was, going back in time, in a completely fresh way, and taking ownership of how she viewed herself today, without judgement and comparison to the past.

Claudia Maria sees modeling as her mission to represent women of her generation. Inspiring them not with the idea of “growing old gracefully”, but rather with unapologetic boldness, dynamism, and vitality. She aims to encourage all women to explore the outer limits of their comfort zone.

Currently, she represents Clarins and is featured in television and print advertising world-wide for their new line Nutri-Lumiere. In the United States, she has also been featured in advertising material Macy’s, Soma Intimates and LL Been; and Palacio de Hierro in Mexico, among other brands. She also works various luxury lifestyle shoots for resorts and yachts.

The 1980’s

Claudia started in this business quite late, when she was about 21, and decided to take up modeling lessons. Soon after she began to work, mainly local advertising shoots. In 1983 a scout came to her agency and recruited her to come to Paris.

Well, the first time Claudia crossed the Champs Elysées, she knew her life would never be the same.

Claudia’s Paris agency was Glamour at the time, and they quickly sent her out to see different designers. She worked for Pierre Cardin, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Louis Scherrer, Louis Féraud and Courrèges, among many others. Claudia was chosen to appear in an advertising campaign shot in France by Paolo Roversi, and she also worked with Patrick Demarchelier for Redken hair products in California.

Claudia also spent time modeling in Japan, where she shot many beauty and fashion advertisements. She also walked countless runways at fashion shows. It was an unforgettable experience for her.

Memorable Moments

Claudia has many memorable moments in her past career. One that comes to mind was when she met Mr. Saint Laurent for a WWD editorial; just walking into that sumptuous palace at Avenue Marceau was a privilege, but she will never forget his expression to Lulu de la Falaise, when he first saw her dressed in his gorgeous haute couture amethyst suit.

Another unforgettable moment was the Festival International de la Mode fashion show. The runway was built right in the middle of the water fountain at the Musée de l’Homme, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, and crowned by fireworks. That night Claudia’s heart skipped a beat as she was going down the long staircase: she was dressed in couture by her favorite designer, whom she loved, Louis Féraud.

And then there was the amazing trip for Photo Japan to the Island of Lanzarote, where we hiked to shoot on the edge of extinct volcanos.

Claudia traveled to many places for work, and towards the latter part of her career, she went to Los Angeles. While there, she was a principal in several TV commercials: for Volkswagen, Jeep Cherokee, and Toyota, among others. She can’t say why so many cars, but acting was fun and challenging for her, and she still enjoys doing commercials.

And Now

Claudia believes in the power of beauty, within and beyond.

Today Claudia’s jobs don’t depend only on her looks, but on the person who she is, and who she projects. She adores working with talent of different age groups, and has forged wonderful and unexpected friendships.

As she see her career taking form and shape, Claudia is motivated by working with professionals who appreciate her sensibility and commitment.

Claudia looks forward to many exciting future collaborations with clients who seek to communicate their message with elegance, vibrancy, and authenticity.
